The Waiting Game begins with a funky groove, featuring tenor saxophone and trumpet on the melody line. The piece then switches to an ECM-style solo section before eventually returning to the opening groove.

 

The Waiting Game is dedicated to my former students at Humboldt High School in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
